Loads of SORP resources

04 January 2017      Matt Sisson, Projects and Membership Manager

If you’re a new accountant, new to the sector, or you just need to get up to speed, then you’ll be pleased to know that we have an ever-growing section of SORP resources to help you in your role. The starting point is the SORP resources page (bufdg.ac.uk/sorp) where you can download the SORP itself, as well as the accompanying guidance notes and model financial statements. There you’ll also find links to the other key resources, which include the BUFDG-commissioned training materials, tools and modellers, and two recorded webinars. If you have a specific question you might find it already answered on the SORP discussion boards, but if not then do post it up there, and colleagues will get back to you with an answer.

There are additional resources added recently from the New World, New Numbers event at the beginning of December. There’s the 20-minute event summary video, as well as useful 2-minute snippets from the Q&A covering a range of areas such as bank covenants, governance, and surpluses. We also have the full video of the ‘technical’ session, which goes into the changes in more detail, and a four-page briefing note, which is written in an accessible way, and will be useful if you need to communicate the changes to non-finance colleagues.
