Professor Carol Adams offers an example value creation statement in her report Let's talk value: How universities create value for students, staff and society, published by AdvanceHE:
University X creates value for students, governments, economies and society through: enabling research which addresses global challenges and contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals; building partnerships with industry and government; and, providing an education designed to equip the next generation of leaders with the skills to solve them.
But how much do you know about the UN SDGs? You may know that EAUC has developed an HE sector’s collective response to the Sustainable Development Goals in the SDG Accord "to inspire, celebrate and advance the critical role that education has in delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the value it brings to governments, business and wider society." So if your institution is a signatory to the Accord, maybe including this in your Annual Report could be the start of explaining to readers how your institution is helping to achieve the SDGs. You might also have a look at the Sustainability Leadership Scorecard, an updated and enhanced version of the Green Scorecard, developed by AUDE and EAUC in collaboration with ARUP. There is a mountain of information out there waiting to be used to explain value!
