The Summer edition of PwC’s HE Matters bulletin focuses on Risk, with four articles that look at university risk registers, managing risk in major projects, cyber risks, and turning data risks into opportunities. The cyber-risk article is particularly pertinent, given a recent report from the Institute of Directors (IoD) that shows that while 94% of British firms consider cyber security to be 'very' or 'quite' important, just 44% provide cyber awareness training for their staff. The positive thing is that cyber-security awareness is increasing, and that there a large number of useful resources and training courses available. This little 5-minute phishing ‘challenge’ by VinciWorks is excellent and is designed for tablet and mobile, as well as computers, and should help reduce the risk that your staff will click on emails they shouldn’t. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) thinks that organisations should be incentivising staff to report cyber risks and threats. Food for thought.
In related news, this week is your last chance to book onto the Fraud First-Responder training in London on Monday 22nd May. There are just six spaces left, and the full day’s training costs £160.
