Record entries from disadvantaged students in England and Scotland

20 December 2017      Matt Sisson, Projects and Membership Manager

A record 13.8% of disadvantaged English 18 year olds entered HE in 2017, up 0.2%, according to the UCAS End of Cycle 2017 report published this week. The feat was repeated in Scotland, where the proportion of entrants from the most disadvantaged backgrounds rose to 12.3%. This is good news from two very different funding systems. The data also revealed the increasing competition for students in the sector, with record offer rates for 18 year olds, and just over 1.9million offers for applications in total, the second highest on record. More details are available from the UCAS website.
