Over the last two years we have run a national Counter-Fraud conference, the second of which saw 115 counter-fraud colleagues from universities across the UK travelling to the Grand Connaught Rooms in Holborn, London, in March. While both events were well-received, and delegates felt they were good value, we’ve decided to make some changes for next year.
Much of the feedback from the conferences reflected on the desire for lots of HE-specific content, as well as discussing how counter-fraud is now a university-wide challenge, and is not just the responsibility of finance. While we felt that while we could easily run a third national conference, focused again on finance, we decided that a different event format could better meet the needs of delegates. So, this year we’ve decided to instead run three smaller, regional events, with a different format.
These events will be afternoon-only (starting around 2.30pm), will be advertised widely across finance, procurement, estates, student services, and beyond, and will be a mix of a specific technical sessions and case-studies, presented by university teams themselves. They sessions will run until about 5pm, and then finish with an hour of networking and refreshments, to give delegates a chance to share ideas and build networks. The focus of the whole event will be on bringing the different professional services together, and developing and embedding good practice across your university.
The programmes for the three events are currently being finalised, but we have draft dates and venues. These are:
Registration will open w/c 11th December, and the delegate fee is still TBC but will be around £100. In the meantime, please put the dates in your diaries. And if you have a story about how you’ve developed counter-fraud initiatives across your institution, and would like to share these at one of these events, please drop Matt an email.
