The key to improving performance?

19 November 2015      Rachel Ward, Learning and Development Manager

‘Informal learning’ is the unofficial, impromptu way people learn how to do their job. It can involve a variety of opportunities from asking a colleague how to do something, watching an online video, participating in a webinar or posting a question on a discussion board. It’s often overlooked, but this useful infographic by GoodPractice helps to highlight the benefits and remind us of the 70:20:10 principles of learning that suggests:

  • 70% of learning happens through on the job real life assignments
  • 20% of learning comes from feedback, our networks and relationships we build with others
  • 10% of learning should come from formal training, courses and workshops

The BUFDG website can help you maximise your informal learning with its range of user guides, networking groups, training materials, courses, e-learning, and information resources. Why not take a closer look at our Learning webpages!
