Global Mobility event – the international employment challenge

06 February 2019      Caroline Jones, Employment tax director

As more and more universities are setting up overseas campuses and employees are coming to the UK from overseas or being sent overseas to work it is becoming increasingly difficult for universities to keep track of their obligations and responsibilities. BUFDG and UHR are jointly running an event in London focussing on the international employment challenge.

The event will be held on 12th March 2019 at the London School of Economics and Political Science focussing on the potential issues for universities of internationally mobile staff. This event is aimed at senior HR, Payroll and Finance colleagues who are currently engaged in, or considering, employing staff overseas and will help address some of the concerns that internationalisation brings for universities.

The event will kick off at 9.00 am with registration and networking and finishes at 1pm with lunch. It is free as a service to members and demand is likely to be high. We are delighted to be joined by a great range of speakers from LSE, professional firms, KPMG and PwC and employment lawyers, Mills and Reeve covering a range of subjects including:

  • Employee related complications
  • The LSE experience
  • Flying faculty – what are the legal implications and
  • Top ten hints and tips when sending staff overseas

We are also intending to run a half hour closed session for attendees to share their experiences of dealing with overseas employee related issues. We hope that you can join us for what promises to be a great event.
