HMRCs Employer Bulletin – Feb 2022
16 February 2022 Julia Ascott, Employment Taxes Specialist
This month’s Employer Bulletin was published on 16 February, and we have summarised the main points below so you know if there’s anything you want to read more on:
Changes to Employer Helpline processes – HRMC will not speak to anyone who doesn’t have the PAYE or Accounts office reference. Any request for references will be posted and not given out over the phone
Health & Social Care NIC increase - reminder of the payslip message to inform employees of the uplift. HMRC has been in touch with payroll software providers to ask for the message to be included. [NB from Julia Ascott - this is not mandatory]
Coding notices – P9s will be sent from 7 February to 6 March
Preparing for the last FPS – HMRC reminder on what to include on your final payroll submission of the tax year
Student loans – notification of student and postgraduate loans thresholds and rates, starter notices (SL1 and PGL1) and ensuring no deductions for individuals subject to the off-payroll working rules
Freeports NIC relief – reminder of the NIC relief that will apply from 2022/23 to 2025/26 in Freeport areas
Reporting expenses and benefits – reminder that if you want to payroll benefits for 22/23 and you haven’t done so before, you need to inform HMRC before 5 April, P11Ds required for 21/22 benefits that weren’t payrolled and deadlines for P11Ds/P11D(b).
PAYE Online Service – needs to be used to submit up to 500 P11Ds via government gateway. Employers can no longer use HMRC’s online end of year expenses and benefits service
