Higher Education is changing. For the first time there are now more courses for students than there are students moving into Higher Education. Coupled with less public funding, Brexit implications and changing views on whether going to university is the right step for the student, this has created a perfect storm where ‘Integrated Business Planning’ has never become so prevalent.
IBM Planning Analytics is IBM’s market leading budgeting, forecasting, planning and reporting solution which is currently helping over 25 UK Universities automate and enhance their excel based processes. Within Higher Education the use cases of Planning Analytics vary from moving to rolling forecasts, performing long term plans, student number planning, spinal point planning, staff and classroom utilisation, school profitability and what-if scenario modelling.
In terms of integration, Planning Analytics is vendor agnostic and is not tied to an ERP supplier meaning you can integrate multiple systems together to give your team a single version of the truth to work with, all in one single platform. Although it must said, the most common integration we encounter is with Agresso and have integrated with Agresso on many occasions.
The user interface has been built for 21st century finance and consists of two options. One interface being the web, the other, the market leading Excel-Add In, IBM Planning Analytics for Excel. The web interface brings together a highly interactive and engaging user interface and with features like in-built workflow, Universities can now enhance the budget process like never before. With the integration of Watson, the $1bn investment programme, Universities now have out of the box with IBM, powerful AI smarts that add another dimension to the planning and forecast process.
